  • Founder, Speech-Language Pathologist, Advocate, and Mentor

    Gabriella Alderete, M.A., CCC-SLP, is a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist, Parent Coach, Advocate, Mentor, and the visionary Founder of Greater Communication Associates (GCA). With over a decade of experience supporting individuals from infancy to adulthood across Texas and California, Gabriella has established herself as a leader in the field of speech and language development and advocacy.

    In addition to her clinical expertise, Gabriella is an accomplished professional with a background in published work, highlighting her contributions to advancing understanding in the fields of communication and special education. Her passion for guiding others extends to mentorship, where she supports both parents and professionals in achieving their goals, building confidence, and enhancing their skills in advocacy and special education.

    Currently, Gabriella is pursuing advanced certifications in advocacy and special education administration, as well as a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, further solidifying her commitment to ensuring that every child’s voice is heard and their needs are met. Alongside empowering parents to navigate the special education process, Gabriella is dedicated to mentoring professionals, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to advocate effectively and foster meaningful change. Through her work with GCA, Gabriella embodies a mission of compassionate, personalized support and equitable opportunities for all.

  • GCA’s Beloved Mascot & Psychiatric Service Dog

    Kayden is a charming and loving Miniature Doberman-Dachshund mix who serves as the heart and soul of Greater Communication Associates. As a trained psychiatric service dog, Kayden plays an important role in supporting the founder, Gabriella Alderete, and often attends professional development events alongside her, bringing joy and comfort to everyone he meets.

    Known for his social and affectionate nature, Kayden quickly wins over hearts with his cute demeanor and gentle presence. Whether he’s providing emotional support during a busy day or simply sharing his infectious positivity, Kayden is an essential part of the GCA team.

    When he’s not hard at work, Kayden enjoys lounging in sunny spots, making new friends, and being the center of attention. His unique blend of loyalty, charm, and dedication makes him the perfect companion and a true ambassador for GCA’s mission of support and care.

  • SLPA Lead Coordinator

    As an STS partner with GCA, I have 14 years of experience as a dedicated Speech-Language Pathology Assistant. Mary Henze brings passion and expertise to her role as Lead Coordinator for Assistants. A proud graduate of Grossmont College (2010), Mary has spent the last eight years with STS, honing her skills and making a meaningful impact in diverse educational settings. She has a history of working with school-aged students and currently works with charter schools and juvenile courts, supporting students in grades 6-12. Mary’s commitment to helping students find their voice drives her leadership and dedication to the field.

    As an STS partner with GCA, Jessica Cobb has been a valued Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant with Specialized Therapy Services since 2020. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from San Diego State University and completed her SLPA Certification at California State University, Northridge in 2019.

    Jessica’s clinical interests include play-based early intervention, neurodiversity-affirming therapy, and working in special education settings. She is passionate about providing personalized, student-led therapy that fosters strong connections with her students, allowing them to thrive in their unique ways. With keen organizational skills, Jessica is dedicated to delivering structured yet flexible support tailored to each student’s needs.

    She enjoys working with a diverse range of students, from preschool to high school, helping them achieve their communication goals in meaningful and engaging ways. Outside of work, Jessica loves spending time outdoors with her family, soaking up nature and creating lasting memories.

    Natalia earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her Master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University, along with a bilingual certification. She has nine years of experience working with clients of all-ages, however specializes in school-aged children. Her approach is centered around building meaningful relationships and using each student’s strengths to help them grow. Being fluent in English and Spanish allows her to connect with a diverse range of students and families. Outside of her professional life, Natalia enjoys being outdoors, reading, spending time with her family and traveling.

    As an STS partner with GCA, I am a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) with three years of experience working with children and adolescents aged 4-18. I graduated from San Diego State University in 2019, earning my bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. I currently provide therapy services in both school settings and a clinical environment, helping to support communication development and empower young learners.

I received my degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from San Diego State University in 2020. I take pride in building strong relationships with all my students by fostering a positive and nurturing environment for them to learn, grow, and succeed.

  • Hello! My name is Desiree Payes, and I have been a licensed Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) for nearly four years. I graduated from Cerritos Community College in 2020 and have loved every moment of working with children, helping them grow and succeed.

    Outside of work, I enjoy a wide range of creative and active hobbies. I love drawing, making costumes, and exploring my passion for acting. You’ll often find me spending quality time with friends and family or enjoying live music and going to shows. These interests keep me inspired and energized, both personally and professionally.

    I’m excited to continue growing in my career and making a difference in the lives of the individuals and families I work with!

    Hi, I’m DeAnna! I was born in San Francisco. I work as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant and enjoy collaborating with a diverse population of students. 

    I find fulfillment in helping others develop their speech and language skills while at the same time developing my own skill.

    In my free time, I love exploring creative outlets like drawing, painting, film photography, exploring new cities, and crafting homemade gifts for friends and family. 

    I also enjoy cooking and am a big movie enthusiast. I love supporting local businesses and I’m always on the hunt for the best bowl of ramen and a good cup of coffee!

    As a STS partner with GCA, I have been a member of the team since 2019.

    I have worked with students in the education setting from preschool to high school.

    In 2005,I earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Diego State University.

    My experience includes teaching classes in the elementary and high school settings, including classrooms for students with special needs.

    In 2010, I earned my Speech Language Pathology Assistant Certification (SLPA) from Grossmont College.

    Through the process of building a nurturing environment where students can thrive, I have been able to help students with various communication needs.

    I enjoy the opportunity to work with students in small groups and individually to help foster their learning in a school setting as well as virtually based on the needs of the student.

    In my free time, I enjoy the opportunity to travel and learn about various cultures.

    I am an avid fan of the arts that includes attending theater productions, visiting museums, and making my own creations.

    Gardening is another passion on mine which I have been involved in for many years.

  • I have been working in this field for over twenty years, with many years spent in the schools and several doing virtual therapy primarily.

    I got into speech and language because my youngest brother received speech and language services and I would go along with him to his therapy sessions. I loved it! I was just 14 years old when I knew I wanted to be a speech-language pathologist.

    I'm passionate about helping each and every person I work with and enjoy partnering with both staff and family members or caregivers. Outside of my work, I'm the mother of two beautiful children, a wife, and an author.

    I have over five years of doctoral work under my belt and speak about my research and programs. I'm currently working with an educational publisher on therapy materials  and just completed my second novel.

    I'm a blogger for a large neurodiversity organization, a mentor for the American Speech and Hearing Association, as well as a mentor for individuals with different abilities. I love music and especially enjoy incorporating all things music into my therapy.

His passion for building strong relationships and creating impactful strategies makes him a valuable asset to our team.
